I'm back from paddling down the lower Colorado River for 410 miles and 25 days. This year's Bow South Expedition was long, a physical challenge from t he wind, and a helluva fun! I write about this year's adventure will be posted on this website in the coming weeks.

It has been too long since I have updated this website, but the good news is that I'm back in action! I've been gearing up for this year's Bow South Expedition and this year's trip will be a doozy. My team and I will be paddling from South Cove on the extreme eastern end of Lake Mead and paddling 405 miles south to Morelos Dam on the U.S./Mexico border. This will be my 5th time doing this trip, but the first time including Lake Mead.

Yesterday I got to play kayak outfitter when I brought up 8 kayak to Lake Perris in SoCal so the  High Adventure Team from the Boy Scout Council could hold a paddlecraft safety class for adult leaders. After I came back home started dehydrating more food for my team going down the Colorado River for this year's Bow South Expedition.

I'm finally back from a kayak trip down the Green River through Labyrinth and Stillwater Canyons in Utah, This is an incredible area and I encourage anyone that has a chance to go. I'll be reviewing this trip on a future podcast.

As prep work picks up in earnest during the last few weeks before this year's Bow South Expedition, I actually view the month of October as a layover month. I got back from 2 weeks of kayaking the Green River in Utah near the end of September. As soon as I washed all the red Utah dirt off my gear I started prepping my gear for the Colorado River in November. This trip will be 4 days longer and almost 3 and half times the distance.

I've already contacted the Yuma Sector Office of the U.S. Border Patrol about my trip and taking out at Morelos Dam. This week I'm preparing my ressuply box that will be waiting for me in Parker, AZ. This ressuply box needs to be delivered to Parker this week.

Sept. 30, 2015

Paddle through Labyrinth and Stillwater Canyons on the Green River, Utah, Sept. 10 - 22.

I launched with a group of friends from Ruby Ranch and paddled 100 miles down the Green River and took out at Spanish Bottom below the confluence with the Colorado River. It was 12 days of incredible scenery through Utah's canyon country.

Below is a short video that I put together of our adventure.

Dec. 3, 2014

Bow South Expedition completed on November 30, 2014, at Morelos Dam on the U.S./Mexico border.

My expedition down the lower Colorado River was completed on Sunday afternoon , November 30, 2014. After 17 days and 330+ miles I took out of the river next to Morelos Dam. The feeling I had when I completed my trip was almost indescribable. After getting weather beaten, blown by howling wind, too many close calls with power boats, portaging 6 dams on an ever shrinking river,  I completed my trip with a mix of exhileration and regret.

Below is a video of the last few seconds of the Bow South Expedition. More video will be posted as I'm able to edit it.
